Over the last twenty years, Sarah Bray has been making long, horizontal black and white drawings using Conte crayon on linen. All the drawings work with a precise balance creating an implication of movement.
Also, over the last twenty years, James Hugonin has produced a remarkable series of eighteen paintings, each taking a year to make. These works consist of 55,000 tiny individual marks within a silverpoint grid that create intense evocations of colour and light. Recent exhibitions include; Ingleby Gallery, Edinburgh, 2010; De La Warr Pavillion, Bexhill on Sea, 2006 and BALTIC, Gateshead, 2006. His latest painting, Binary Rhythm, has been included in the invited artists section of this year’s Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Sarah Bray has forthcoming exhibitions in the Netherlands and the UK.
