Seminar: Great (cultural) Expectations

Designs for the Museum of Modern Art Warsaw
26 October 2010 11:00 — 17:00
Margate, with Turner Contemporary

Speakers:-
Victoria Pomery, Director of Turner Contemporary, Margate
Ana Janevski, Curator Warsaw Museum of Modern Art, Poland
Joanna Warsza, Artistic Director, Laura Palmer Foundation, based in Warsaw, Poland
Dr. Andrea Schlieker, Curator, Folkestone Triennial (TBC)

In May 2010 the National Networks Annual International Trip was to Poland. We visited Warsaw, Lodz and Baliastock, all cities with great plans for the development of their infrastructure for culture; galleries, museums, collections and more.

One and a half hours from London, Margate will see the opening of Turner Contemporary. Making a link with our trip to Poland, we have invited speakers to talk about the development of major new institutions and the evolution of significant cultural projects that thread their way in to a town or city without the physical walls of a building. Can we meet the political, social and educational expectations that are placed on these projects and at the same time meet our own expectations?

£15 for non members
