Exhibition Tour — Current & Studio Visit — Lubaina Himid

Current is a pioneering new project which seeks to address the challenges of collecting digital artworks for public collections. From a UK-wide open submission, five leading artists working with new media have been shortlisted for an exhibition at the Harris Museum & Art Gallery, with one of the artworks finally purchased for the permanent collection. Join Lindsay Taylor (Exhibitions Officer) for an exclusive tour and a chance to find out about this fascinating project.

Whilst in Preston, we are also delighted to offer a studio visit with the artist Lubaina Himid, whose work investigates historical representations of people of African diaspora and highlights the importance of their cultural contribution to the contemporary landscape. Himid’s work is included in several public collections including Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery (purchased as part of the Contemporary Art Society Special Collection Scheme), Tate and the Victoria & Albert Museum.

This event is part of a series of events programmed by the Contemporary Art Society in the North West. Membership costs £50 per year / £25 for students.
