Contemporary Collectors were invited to a private view of the collection of Doris Lockhart Saatchi, at her home. Doris was a Trustee of the Contemporary Art Society between 2001 and 2007 and is an influential collector.
Doris Lockhart Saatchi describes her collection as idiosyncratic. After creating, with her former husband Charles, the original Saatchi Collection, she focused for her own environment on the conceptual artist Sol LeWitt and American minimalists Andre, Flavin, Judd, Martin, Ryman and Serra, deviating, she says, 'only for the enjoyment of living with works by Langlands and Bell, Carter, Hume, Davenport, Shibata and Hirst.' Then, as she puts it, 'having been slow to fully appreciate the power and beauty of drawing, I found that I have, almost inadvertently, assembled a group of drawings by British artists that give me enormous pleasure.'
Currently installed in her minimalist apartment are works by Brits Connearn, Harris, Kovats, Richards and Punton.
