Paul Hobson, director of the Contemporary Art Society, will tour the newly opened Bloomberg commission at the Whitechapel Gallery. The yearly project will see an exhibition by Scottish artist Claire Barclay.
The process of making lies at the core of Barclay’s practice. By adopting methods associated with traditional crafts, such as weaving, woodturning and ceramics, she investigates how experience can be communicated through form.
Often these sculptures are not realised until the installation. Barclay assembles different components site-specifically thus responding intuitively to materials and embracing elements of risk and experimentation. Join Paul Hobson for a special insight into the exhibition.
