Extraordinary Measures is the sixth in a series of ambitious contemporary art exhibitions curated for this unique historic site. This year the curatorial theme is the distortion of scale and the exhibition was described in The Observer newspaper as ‘not just arresting, and full of good art… [but] ideally selected to emphasise the absolute singularity of Belsay’s gardens and buildings.’ Specially commissioned art work, by both established and emerging artists, is installed across the site — in the hall, castle, quarry and gardens.
This list features Mat Collishaw, Tessa Farmer and Sean Daniels, Mosedale Gillatt Architects, Ron Mueck, Mariele Neudecker, Freddie Robins, Slinkachu and Ciarán Treanor.
Join us for an opportunity to meet the curator, Judith King, and gain insight into how the exhibition was devised and developed.
