biography
Penny Klepuszewska studied MA Photography at London College of Communication and was featured in Contemporary Art Society's ARTfutures 2008.
Previously exhibited at ROOM, and one of few recent graduates to be included in the Tate survey show, How We Are; Photographing Britain, Tate Britain, 2008.
statement
Although there is rarely a person in sight, these works act like portraits - traces of activity suggesting that someone has left the scene only moments before and that much can be gleaned of their personality from the way in which the objects have been handled. The lighting is theatrical, perhaps reflecting the artist’s early career with an experimental Polish theatre company.
