biography

Michael Pinsky is known for his international projects which have produced challenging works exploring the issues that shape and influence the use of our public realm.

He starts residencies or commissions without a specified agenda, working with local people and resources, allowing the physical, social and political environment to define his working methodology.

Dr Michael Pinsky graduated from the Royal College of Art. He has given public talks for the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment, Institute of Contemporary Art, Finnish Academy for the Arts, Best of Heritage, Dubrovnik and V2, Rotterdam.

He has received numerous awards including RSA, Art and Architecture, Arts and Business, winner, Wellcome Trust, major production award and his exhibition 'Pontis' was shortlisted for
the prestigious Gulbenkian Museums Award.

Pinsky has exhibited extensively in galleries and festivals such as the Saatchi Gallery, the ICA, London; BALTIC, Gateshead; Centre for Contemporary Art, Glasgow; Modern Art Oxford; Milton Keynes Gallery; Cornerhouse, Manchester; Liverpool Biennial; Archilab, Orleans; CCC, Tours; Armory Center of the Arts, Los Angeles and the Rotterdam International Architectural Biennial.
