Gayle Chong Kwan is based in London and has shown extensively in the UK and abroad. Aswell as a BA Fine Art from Central Saint Martins College of Art, she has a MSc in Communications from Stirling University and a BA in Politics and Modern History from Manchester University.
Gayle Chong Kwan was featured in Contemporary Art Society's ARTfutures 2007 at Bloomberg SPACE, London. She is represented by Galerie Kernot, Paris, and Galleria Uno + Uno, Milan.
Gayle Chong Kwan creates mythical mise-en-scene landscapes, installations, and environments out of disturbing arrangements of waste, food and found materials. Her work refers to Romanticism, early experiments in photography and contemporary tourism and trade, to explore ideas of collective and individual memory, history and expanded notions of the senses. She works with photography, video, sound, installation, and performance.
